DESCRIPTION:Copper enamelling day (CL14X1YHa) \n  \nCreate beautiful colours\, patterns and effects with enamel on copper on this fun 1 day course. \nChoose to enamel larger pieces such as bowls and dishes or smaller pieces for jewellery. \nJoin one of our copper bowl making courses on a Friday afternoon at our Yardley Hastings workshop ready to enamel. You can find them here. \n  \nProcesses covered on the day: \n\nClean and prepare metal ready for enamelling\nDemonstrate even application of enamel to flat and curved metal surfaces.\nIdentify and describe the three stages of enamel during firing.\n\n\nIdentify when enamel has reached the correct firing stage.\nIdentify common enamelling faults and suggest possible causes and solutions.\nRecord the colours\, techniques\, firing times and results on  samples.\nEvaluate finished samples and select the most successful techniques for future work.\nDemonstrate safe handling of enamel materials\, kiln equipment and fired pieces.\nClean the work area and equipment safely after completing the activity.\n\n  \nTutor: Beccy Gillatt \nLevel: Some jewellery making skills preferable but not essential \nMaterials: Enamels and small copper pieces for making samples are included in the fee.
