DESCRIPTION:Casting using delft clay and cuttlefish (BB02X1YHa) \nOn this one day casting course you will use a different range of items to experiment with making moulds from delft sand and cuttlefish. \nThere is also a chance to cast in water\, pasta and rice if you’d like to do some experimental casting on the day. \nYou’ll learn how to: \n\nCreate a top pouring mould in delft and cuttlefish\nCreate a side pouring mould in sand\nCreate a single delft mould for multiple pieces\nAdd bails and fixings to your castings\nCreate details in the sand moulds using stamps\nClean up your castings\n\nThe forms that you cast can be created into pendants\, earrings or charms. \nSilver is in addition to the course fee. Please do bring your own if you would like. DESCRIPTION:Wax Carving Jewellery Workshop \nExplore the creative possibilities of wax carving in this focused\, hands-on jewellery workshop. Guided by an experienced tutor\, you’ll learn the essential techniques to carve your own unique ring or pendant design in wax — the first step in creating beautiful cast jewellery. \nDuring the session\, you will be introduced to a range of traditional wax-working methods including: \n\n\nMarking out your design \n\n\nFiling and refining shapes \n\n\nSawing and carving in detail \n\n\nUsing burrs for texture and definition \n\n\nCreating granules \n\nUsing heat to create textures and fix breakages\nPreparing your piece for casting\n\nThe workshop fee includes wax for up to two pieces. Should you wish to have your design cast in silver\, we’ll provide a casting quote (typically around £30 per piece)\, payable prior to sending your wax to the casters. \nOnce cast\, your finished piece can either be: \n\n\nReturned to you for at-home finishing \n\n\nCompleted during an optional open workshop session (£35) \n\n\nProfessionally cleaned and polished for an additional charge \n\n\nThis is an ideal session for those looking to explore new jewellery-making techniques or take the first step toward working in metal through the lost wax casting process.
