Chain making day with Vicky – Saturday 17th June 10am – 3pm

On this one day course Vicki will guide you through all the techniques to enable you to make a silver chain from your own designs.

– Use visual research and samples to create your design
– Sample a range of different link styles in copper using mandrels and pliers
– Create your final design in silver wire
– Solder links using different solder grades
– Use finishing and polishing techniques to complete your design

Materials are in addition to your course fee (approx £10) and can be purchased on the day or feel free to bring your own 1.2mm wire and lobster clasp.

Most learners will complete a bracelet length chain and more advanced learners may have time to complete a chocker length neck chain.

Vicki Barfoot of Purnell Jewellery is an award winning jeweller and has worked in the industry for 25 years. Alongside her business, she teaches manufacture and design at the British Academy of Jewellery and Surrey Adult Learning. Vicki is currently working on a new collection of pieces which will be available online in the near future.
