This class is all about precision, patience, and next-level results. You’ll build on your existing experience to master micro-claw castle and fishtail setting.

You’ll be guided every step of the way by Scott McIntyre a Master Goldsmith and Setter, with clear demonstrations, focused coaching, and plenty of hands-on time to refine your technique and gain real confidence.

Can I do this class?

This full day course is designed for experienced jewellers who already have a solid grasp of benchwork and intermediate setting skills. You’ll need strong control with your pendant motor, a steady hand for drilling and burring, and some familiarity with scorpers.

It’s ideal for those who’ve completed Scott’s Intermediate Stone Setting [Flush & Pavé] or have equivalent experience.

Micro-Claw Setting [Castle & Fishtail]

While it might not look like much on paper, these techniques demand focus, preparation, and accuracy. You’ll spend time understanding how to remove just the right amount of metal, creating settings that are both elegant and rock-solid.

By the end of the day, you’ll have advanced your technical ability, refined your control, and built skills that will set your work apart.

Do I need to bring anything?

Bring a sketchbook or similar for taking notes. Please note that glasses/optivisors are mandatory for this class [get in touch if you’re unsure]. Please wear long hair tied up [or bring something to do so], don’t wear open-toed shoes and keep loose-fitting clothing to a minimum.

We will provide all materials, which include metal and stones. You will have your own bench where you will have access to all of the essential stone setting tools but do feel free to bring your own (marked tools) if you are more comfortable.
