Copper enamelling day (CL14X1YHa)

Create beautiful colours, patterns and effects with enamel on copper on this fun 1 day course.

Choose to enamel larger pieces such as bowls and dishes or smaller pieces for jewellery.

Join one of our copper bowl making courses on a Friday afternoon at our Yardley Hastings workshop ready to enamel. You can find them here.

Processes covered on the day:

• Clean and prepare metal ready for enamelling
• Demonstrate even application of enamel to flat and curved metal surfaces.
• Identify and describe the three stages of enamel during firing.

• Identify when enamel has reached the correct firing stage.
• Identify common enamelling faults and suggest possible causes and solutions.
• Record the colours, techniques, firing times and results on  samples.
• Evaluate finished samples and select the most successful techniques for future work.
• Demonstrate safe handling of enamel materials, kiln equipment and fired pieces.
• Clean the work area and equipment safely after completing the activity.

Level: Some jewellery making skills preferable but not essential

Materials: Enamels and small copper pieces for making samples are included in the fee. Larger pieces are not included but can be available for purchase on the day – please let me know in advance so I can order it in for the day.
